Would be amazing if there was a way to add rulers, guides, and implement the ability to snap objects relative to the display rectangle to the Simple Editor. I obviously have no idea if this possible or not, but it would make placing objects much easier.

Please try current nightly (3107 or newer), I added rulers, snapping, guides and grid with various options, heavily inspired by Flash Pro CS6. It is available through new icons.
